I have a Thallium dye stress test coming up this week and I am scared to death. All I know is that I will be on a treadmill for a while then given the dye, then will be laid down and photos taken for a few hours. I was told that the test is 5 hours old. I am scared about the dye, does it make you feel sick or any thing like that.

    • Relax a bit. The dye might leave a little metalic taste in your mouth, but otherwise no effects. Or at least I have never experienced any or heard of any. I have had it three times and have another one coming up on the 20th of Sept. This time they will just inject me and not have me use the treadmill. I would rather be on the treadmill. Good Luck with your test and Hope it All goes Well. Take Care. Larry :)

    • Mikael, I had the test twice already, nothing to worry about, it is very boring. It does take about 5 hours, but most of the time you sit around waiting. First they put the dye in your vene then you sit and wait, boring. Then you go on the dreadmill, all hooked up with wires, good exercise, then you have to lay down under a machine which takes pictures for about 25 minutes. Then they send you to the waiting room for about an hour, there you can drink and eat something. Then back to the dreadmill and back to the picture machine. With other words, both procedures are done twice. Nothing hurts, it is just very boring to have to sit and lay around for 5 - 6 hours.
